This guide is used by anyone filing a water rights case in Colorado, such as applying for a new water right or changing an existing one.

Either party may file.

Common questions

Who needs to sign the application?
All applicants, whether acting alone or through a lawyer, must sign the application. If a Power of Attorney is used, a copy of the signed Power of Attorney must also be included.
What must accompany the application when filing?
The filing fee must be included with the application, statement of opposition, and protest, or the documents will not be accepted.
